It’s time to get those photos off your laptop and phone!! Gift-giving season is underway, which makes this the perfect time of year to share my favorite photo printing companies!  All of these companies are having awesome Cyber Monday and even Cyber Week sales!  And yes, there are quite a few competitors in the photo market, but I always go back to these for their quality, customer service, and easy design interface.  If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email at stacy@stacysmithevans.com.  And, if you like this list, please share it with your friends!

  1. Mpix for Prints – I’ve used Mpix’s sister company for pros since I started my business and they have never let me down.  The color accuracy is always spot on and I love the variety of papers available for prints.  I’m especially fond of the metallic finish prints and always order those to frame for my own home.  Mpix is offering 25% off large prints today so you can get that family portrait printed for mom!
  2. Shutterfly for Calendars – Yes, Shutterfly.  I admit I’ve had ups and downs with Shutterfly, but I love the thick paper and print quality of their wall calendars.  The 12×12 calendar is the perfect size for hanging in the kitchen and writing down appointments.  I design one for my dad every year with photos of his pup, but these are great for displaying photos from your photo sessions all year long!  Shutterfly is offering up to 50% off calendars + an extra 25% off your order today! 3. Minted for Holiday Cards – I’ve said this before, but I LOVE Minted.  A friend and Minted artist introduced me to Minted a few years ago; you can check out her awesome designs here.  Her cards always stand out for their quality, unique design, and packaging!  Aside from beautiful designs from independent artists, Minted offers free envelope addressing which means that when your cards are delivered you can slap a stamp on them and put them in the mailbox ten minutes later!  Once you’ve entered the info in your Minted address book, it’s there the next year, which makes it even easier to order.  AND, most of the artists are small business owners like myself that benefit from every card sale!  Minted is offering 25% off everything for Cyber Monday. 4. Artifact Uprising for Print Sets and Small Calendars – This is the perfect way to print some of those Instagrams that never make it out of your feed!  Artifact Uprising gives you the option to directly upload from Instagram or your computer.  The paper is thick which makes them great for displaying around the house without frames.  I have a few on my office bulletin board, the fridge, and this year I’m repurposing my calendar photos into gift tags.  Artifact Uprising is offering up to 20% off today.

A few of my other favorite companies for photo-related items include Blurb for everyday and travel photo albums, Pottery Barn for their wood gallery frames, and Adorama for cameras and lenses!  Happy Cyber Monday, Friends!  Let the printing and gifting begin!

A couple weeks ago, I met Savana and Brady in the gardens at Blandy Farm for a summer engagement session. These two have the cutest love story: they first “met” at the babysitter when they were tiny tots, reconnected in middle school, and started dating in high school! Earlier this year, they got engaged on a beach in the Dominican Republic – what a perfect spring break!

There are so many things that I LOVE about this session – the amazing sunset, glowy light, and flowers in bloom at Blandy; Savana’s adorable blue-green romper with a skirt; but most of all, I just love the way she wrinkles her nose and laughs when she looks at Brady! Congratulations you two, can’t wait ’til next year!

Sarah and John married in late June at the same church in Shepherdstown, West Virginia where her grandparents wed in the 1940s. Afterwards, they celebrated with family and friends at the nearby Barn at York Hill, a beautiful historic farm with acres of apple orchards and grapevines. Their special day — accented with blue and gold — truly reflected their story as individuals and as a couple. The groom’s cake took the shape of a Chicago Bulls basketball representing John’s home state and favorite team. And the reception tables were named after national parks including Shenandoah where they got engaged and Harper’s Ferry where they met as summer park rangers.

I love seeing the excitement build on wedding days as the bride puts on her dress and everyone makes their way to the ceremony. At Sarah and John’s wedding, I was able to ride in the limo with the groomsman and capture those very special and nervous moments just before they entered the church. Minutes later, Sarah practically skipped down the aisle at her dad’s arm while John fought back tears. After their vows, dances, and a bunch of photos, they let loose to “Country Roads” (a real crowd pleaser in West Virginia!), segued into some men’s moshing, and ended the night with an exit under sparklers.

Congratulations you two!  It was a joy to photograph your special day!

For the past five years, I’ve photographed Madison and Joseph for their spring birthdays. I’ve watched them grow from preschoolers to rambunctious eight-year-olds, all the while staying close friends. We always enjoy a whirlwind of a portrait session starting with playing with sticks, rocks and anything that can dirty their outfits and ending with precious moments like the first photo below. 🙂  Enjoy some of my favorites!
